Sculpture Garden Gees

 

The work The Border Beyond is ambiguous: on floats that refer to refugee boats are red banners suggesting a finish and a warm welcome, but also a revolt, or they denote the rigid stop sign. The title refers to a question: is there no more border and have you already crossed it, or has it been closed and is transit prohibited? The sculpture intends to indicate dilemmas of the refugee discussion. The colour and shapes are both inviting as well as threatening. The abstract image on the shore is composed of a male and female form. Does one dare to face the trip?

For the 17th time in a row, during the summer of 2016 the prestigious International art exhibition at the Scheldeboulevard in Terneuzen takes place. This combination of outdoor exhibition on the boulevard and inside exhibition in the Town Hall has become a sculpture exhibition of allure that attracts annually many thousands of visitors. And all this takes place in a breathtaking setting: the Scheldeboulevard that forms the border between the land and the Westerschelde. Free admission.

I participate with 3 sculptures, as well as two paintings in the Town Hall.

For the 8th time, in 2015 the art route Borderless Exploring Art (Grensloos Kunst Verkennen) took place, organised in the villages de Wijk (Overijssel Province) and IJhorst (Drenthe Province) as well as the intermediate Reestdal. On over 25 different both indoor and outdoor locations art by nationally-known artists, local artists and outsider art was to be seen.
